We are huge meatball fans around here, but because my husband avoids dairy and I typically skip gluten, I thought meatballs were a thing of the past.

After a few years, though, I decided to start experimenting with different recipes and found that you can make meatballs without breadcrumbs and cheese, and guess what? They’re still delicious.

But here’s the thing: I know some of you also avoid eggs, or have children who can’t eat eggs.

So I’ve been on a mission to come up with meatball recipes free from all the allergens.

Free from all.the.things: dairy-free, cheese-free, egg-free, gluten-free, breadcrumb-free, nut-free.

And the good news? They actually taste good.

Now all you need to do is grab these super easy paleo meatball recipes and get cooking!

Can I freeze meatballs?

Yes, and you have two options when it comes to freezing.

You can cook the meatballs completely, allow them to cool to room temperature, and then freeze them in an air-tight container, or freeze them raw, then drop into a hot sauce and allow them to cook fully in the sauce.

Personally, I prefer to cook a double batch and freeze already cooked.

My best trick it to freeze the meatballs on a sheet pan lined with a silicone baking mat to avoid sticking.

Once frozen, I ad the meatballs to an airtight container, and can grab a few out at a time, whenever the family is craving meatballs for dinner.

What if the meatballs are difficult to roll?

Meatballs can occasionally be too sticky to roll, especially when made with ground turkey.

If the mixture is too sticky, simply spoon the mixture using a small ice cream scoop or spoon.

Can I substitute turkey for ground beef or ground beef for turkey?

Yes, these swaps can be made in these recipes.

Keep in mind that white meat ground turkey has little to no fat content, and so will result in a dry meatball.

It’s that’s time again—time to make all.the.pumkin.recipes!

To ring in fall and all the pumpkin goodness, I’ve pulled together my favorite easy, healthy pumpkin recipes, using canned pumpkin.

Can I Use Fresh Cooked Pumpkin in Place of Canned?

If you want to substitute fresh, cooked pumpkin for canned in any recipe, simply substitute using a 1:1 ration.

So 1 cup cooked fresh pureed pumpkin equals 1 cup canned, as long as you first drain any excess water or moisture from the cooked pureed pumpkin.

To substitute for a typical 15-oz can of pumpkin, use approximately 1¾ cup fresh cooked and pureed pumpkin. 

What Should I Do With Leftover Canned Pumpkin?

If you have leftover canned pumpkin, use it in another pumpkin recipe (so many options, below!), or freeze the leftovers.

To freeze leftover canned pumpkin, remove it from the can, and store, tightly sealed in the freezer for 3-6 months. Here’s my favorite method for freezing.

Hey Feel Good Fam! Who’s is excited for soup season? 

I don’t know about you, but I don’t think there’s anything better than a big steamy bowl of cozy soup at the end of a long day.

I love soup so much, not just because it is easy to make, but also because it's often loaded with veggies, protein, and so much goodness.

Last September I was inspired by one of my favorite designers Emily Henderson and on Insta @em_henderson who decided that September should officially be designated Souper September

Her approach to the month was simple: eat as much soup as possible for as many meals as possible.

So in honor of Emily, and in honor of my own love of soup, I pulled together my best, easiest, simple soup recipes that can all be made in the slow cooker.

These are basically throw and go kind of recipes, so no hard to find ingredients, or complicated instruction--just simple real and totally good.

You'll find the soups organized by those that follow a Paleo style of eating, meaning they are grain-free dairy-free and gluten-free,

You'll also find some vegetarian options in the mix.

Also know that every single recipe is gluten-free, dairy-free, and refined sugar-free.

In many cases there are also stovetop variations, plus instructions to make these recipes in an instant pot or pressure cooker, so even if you don't have a slow cooker, you're good to go.

    Look for a good quality avocado mayonnaise, one that is free of sugar, soy, and canola oil, such as Primal Kitchen and Chosen Foods.

    I can’t eat or am allergic to eggs. Can I make egg salad without eggs?

    Yes! Substitute 1-2 cans of drained, rinsed chickpeas for the eggs. Smash one can with a fork, and keep the other whole, then proceed with the recipe.

    MEAL PREP GOLDEN GLOW Egg Salad (Mayo-Free)

    Ingredients

    For the Dressing

    ¼ cup fresh lemon juice

    1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

    1 teaspoon Dijon mustard

    2 teaspoons honey (omit for whole30)

    2 teaspoons mild curry powder

    1 teaspoon salt

    ⅓ cup extra virgin olive oil

    For the Salad

    2 cups diced hard boiled eggs

    1 cup diced English cucumber

    1 cup diced green apple

    1 cup diced red bell peppers

    2 tablespoons chopped green onion

    ¼ cup roasted, salted sunflower seeds 

    Instructions

    1. Make the dressing by whisking together the lemon juice, apple cider vinegar, mustard, honey, curry powder and salt in a small bowl. Drizzle in the olive oil and whisk until well combined.

    2. Make the salad by combining the eggs, cucumber, apple, bell pepper, and green onion in a large bowl. Add the dressing and toss to coat.

    3. Allow to sit for 5-10 minutes for the flavors to absorb.

    4. Serve and enjoy immediately, topped with sunflower seeds, or cover and store for up to 5 days, with sunflowers seeds as a topping.

    For the Turmeric Tahini Dressing

    1 teaspoon turmeric

    1 tablespoon tahini (sesame seed butter)

    1 garlic clove, minced or finely grated

    1 teaspoon honey (omit for Whole30)

    ¼ teaspoon kosher salt

    2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar

    ⅓ cup extra virgin olive oil

    For the Salad

    2 cups diced hard boiled eggs

    1 cup shredded carrots

    1 cup slaw mix or finely shredded cabbage

    1-2 green onion, finely chopped

    ¼ cup sulfite-free raisins

    Instructions

    1. In a medium bowl, add the turmeric, tahini, garlic, honey (if using), salt, pepper, and vinegar, stirring to combine. Drizzle in the olive oil and whisk until smooth. Alternatively, add all the ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth.

    2. In a large bowl, add the eggs, carrots, slaw or cabbage, green onions, and raisins. Add the dressing, stirring to combine. Allow to sit for 15 minutes for the flavors to combine.

    3. Serve over greens, if desired.
