Brunch is one of my very favorite things. I love the sweet and savory, the leisurely pace, the option to drink mimosas in the morning. It's a good thing. We rarely go out to brunch these days (bunch in Portland is almost it's own sport, and waiting half an hour or more for a table with a hungry two-year-old kind of ruins the experience), but hosting a casual get-together at home is a perfect alternative.
New Year's Day is the perfect excuse to invite some friends over and brunch-it-up. And since the first of the year is a time to recommit to healthy eating, why not make it all about real food? I've pulled together some of my favorite, simple, real food brunch recipes. Most can be made ahead, or thrown together in the morning, so invite your friends and ring in a healthy 2015.
Bubbles make everything better. These two offer a delicious twist on the classic cocktail. Substitute plain, sparkling water for a yummy non-alcoholic option.
