15 simple ideas to build a candy-free Easter basket.
Growing up, candy played a major role in our Easter holiday. We woke up to a basket filled with candy in our rooms, then giddily proceeded to hunt for candy-filled plastic nests around the house. By mid-morning we all happily crashed from a sugar high. I have very fond memories of my childhood Easters, but these days I'm looking to update the tradition. I want to celebrate as a family with all the fun and excitement of the holiday, but with a little less emphasis on candy.
This year my daughter will wake up to a small basket of (non-candy) goodies in her room, and we'll have an egg scavenger hunt around the house with a fun prize at the end (details on how to create your own scavenger hunt below). Then we'll host family and friends for a fabulous brunch. There will still be candy; I just can't interfere with papa and his love for sweets, but it will be a smaller part of the celebration overall. I hope you'll be inspired by some of these ideas and incorporate some new traditions into your family holiday this year.
Here are 15 candy-free Easter ideas to inspire your own holiday. I've provided links for your information, but most of these items can be found in a variety of locations.

15. Easter egg scavenger hunt. Place paper clues in each egg and then hide the eggs. Place a prize at the end of the hunt. For example, the prize might be movie tickets, or a special experience coupon for going to the zoo, out to lunch with mom and dad, or breakfast in bed.
